Professor Amy Stambach- Director of the 2009 APIP Program
Amy Stambach is director of Global Studies and professor of Educational Policy Studies and Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on global connections created through educational policies and world religions. She is the author of the book "Faith in Schools: Religion, Education, and American Evangelicals in East Africa" (Stanford University Press, Fall 2009).

Professor Dustin Cowell- Arabic Immersion Program Director and Lecturer
Dustin C. Cowell is a professor of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies of Malaysia and Indonesia in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature. His research focuses on Arabic instruction in Islamic schools (pesantren) and Arabic-Malay/Indonesian Islamic texts. Cowell was a visiting professor of Arabic at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1994-1996.

Mustafa Mustafa- Arabic Immersion Program Lecturer
Mustafa Mustafa is an Arabic Associate Faculty Associate at UW-Madison. He has taught Arabic for APIP since 2006. Mustafa has also taught Arabic at Beloit College, as well as at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization in Kuala Lumpur, Maylaysia. He has taught at the UW-Madison since 2006, and received a degree in Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Khartoum in Sudan.

Mary Youssef- Arabic Immersion Program Lecturer
Mary Youssef is an Arabic language instructor and Ph D student at UW-Madison. She worked as a broadcaster for the Egyptian Radio in Cairo before she came to the US. Her current research focuses on the representation of minorities and the reading of cosmopolitanism in contemporary Egyptian novel.

Saeed Honarmand- Persian Immersion Program Director and Lecturer
Saeed Honarmand teaches Persian Language and Persian Literature at Ohio State University. Saeed is the author of nine books, and is currently working on his dissertation on modern Persian fiction. Saeed has lived in the US for 10 years, and joined APIP in 2008.

Fatemeh Mirsharifi- Persian Immersion Program Lecturer
Fatemeh Mirsharifi is a Persian instructor and a PhD student in Second Language Acquisition at UW-Madison. She received her Master's Degree in TEFL at the University of Tehran, and then came to the US as Fulbright scholar in 2007. She taught Persian in the APIP program in 2007 and at the UW-Madison. She returned home in June 2008, and returned to the UW-Madison in January 2009.
